Parroccini steps down as girls tennis coach

July 10, 2020

Just a year after resuming the position of girls tennis coach, John Parroccini is stepping down.

Parroccini returned from a 2-year hiatus last season and led the Dragons to a 3-10 overall record. Warren faced a daunting scheduled that included a pair of matches against reigning District 9 champion, St. Marys and a pair against perennial District 10 powerhouse McDowell. The Dragons also faced Mercyhurst Prep, Hickory and Fairview. Warren’s three wins came against Conneaut (OH) and Erie (twice).

In addition to the grueling schedule, the Dragons were tasked with replacing a solid group of seniors that included first-team Region 3 all-star Gracie Wood and regular starters Emily Grimm and Ceci Citro, and faced uncertainties about whether they would have a team with registration numbers putting Warren in the “yellow” or probation stage.

Parroccini’s assistant coach, and daughter, Kimberleigh, also tendered her resignation.

Uncertainty already surrounds the status of fall sports across the state, and now the Dragons are tasked with finding a new coaching staff a month before the scheduled start of the season.
