CONNEAUT, Ohio – The Warren girls tennis team swept its way to its first win of the season Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Conneaut (OH).
Maddie Rodgers (first singles over Madeline Maire), Sydnie Cochran (second singles over Karli Mickle) and Sydney Govoni (third singles over Sam Wright), were all 6-2, 6-1 winners.
“This was a good match all around,” Warren associate head coach Travis Myler said. “We had better performances from all the players.”
Amanda Gray and Kamryn Moore were 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) winners over Lizzy Young and Heidi Mayor at first doubles. Madalynn Perry and Jacqueline Peterson tookk down Sara Barrett and Paige Brainard, 6-1, 6-0, at second doubles.
The win moves Warren to 1-1 on the year, while Conneaut falls to 0-5.
The Dragons are back in action Thursday when they host Erie at Betts Park.
Katie Moore and Isabela Shingler, Izzy Heacox and Mackenzie Lester, and Sophie Olson all picked up junior varsity victories.
