Nancy A. Cushner

Nancy A. Cushner, 60, of Warren, Pa., died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2021, at UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie, Pa., after a short illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1961, in Warren, Pa. Nancy was the daughter of Josephine Gerarde Schmader of Warren, Pa., and the late James Schmader.

Nancy was a lifelong Warren area resident. She was a 1979 graduate of Warren Area High School. She was employed with the former Blair Corporation and Whirley Drinkworks and learned floral design by working at Ekeys Flowers and Greenhouse. She was a vendor and up-cycler with Warren Antiques & Gifts for the past three years. She was an avid crafter and floral designer.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, David E. Cushner, whom she married June 20, 1981, in Warren, Pa.; two children: Spencer Cushner and his wife, Cori of Warren, Pa., and Julia Young and husband, Roger of Youngsville, Pa.; six siblings: Cindy Clark and husband, Jim, Marie Crouse, Joan Shattuck, Jody Lauffenberger and Donna Carlstromm all of Warren, Pa., and James Schmader and wife, Sherry of Bear Lake, Pa.; sister-in-law, Sherri Thatcher and husband, Jim of Missouri; two grandchildren: Olivia and Matthew Young; and three Shih Tzu and two Shih poo dogs, who were the love her life, Rocco, Riley, Vinny, Tegan and Zora.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a niece, Jennifer K. Bishop.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East St., Warren, Pa., on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke, pastor of Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, officiating. A celebration of Nancy’s life will follow directly after the memorial service at the North Warren Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall.
