Knights Fall at Iroquois

ERIE – A 5-run, 2-out rally in the fourth inning propelled Iroquois to a 12-2, 5-inning win over visiting Eisenhower Thursday morning.

The Braves came into the inning with a 4-1 lead. Ethan Alderson got things started by advancing to first after a wild pitch on strike three. Reilly Brown followed with an RBI double, then scored on a wild pitch two batters later. After a walk and a single, Ben Burkhardt ripped a 2-run single into left. Burkhardt later scored on a wild pitch for the fifth run of the inning and a 9-1 advantage.

Brown had an RBI double, and Joe Doverspike hit a 2-run single in the fifth to end the game.

Eisenhower got on the board first. Cole Kellogg hit a leadoff single to start the game and scored on Derek Childs’ RBI groundout.

Iroquois answered with two runs in the home half of the first. Doverspike and Cole Bennett each had RBI singles in the inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-1. They added two more runs in the second when Brown hit an RBI single and later scored on a passed ball.

The Knights scored their second run in the top of the fifth when Johnny Palmieri singled, then later scored on a passed ball.

Kellogg and Palmieri each had a hit and scored a run. Childs had the lone RBI.

Kael Hunt took the loss allowing nine earned runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts in four innings. Childs allowed three earned runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout in 2/3 inning.

Brown gave up two unearned runs on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings to get the win.
