April 27, 2021

June E. Stangler, 95, of Russell, Pa., passed away April 17, 2021, at the Rouse Home.

June was born August 14, 1925, in Kane, PA., to the late Niels and Helga Petersen Gregersen. She was a graduate of Kane High School and graduated from the Edward Meyer School of Nursing in Buffalo as a Registered Nurse. She married her late husband Frank A. Stangler and together they raised three children, moving from Allegany NY, to Houston TX, Mt Vernon, OH and Easton, PA before settling back into her home area of Warren.

She was an energetic homemaker, and especially enjoyed her family as a mother and hands-on grandmother. June enjoyed a good joke and loved to laugh. She had many varied interests and her hobbies over the years included bowling, bridge, and golfing (especially following Greg Norman). June enjoyed sports including NASCAR and was an avid Ohio State supporter. She developed her Danish family genealogy by keeping in touch with relatives both in the states and in Denmark. Patriotic holidays were her favorites. She loved a parade or a marching band.

June is survived by her two children; Sandra Pope of Somers, N.Y., and Thomas Stangler of Suffolk, VA; her sister, Norma Petersen of Russell, Pa., three grandchildren, Cindy (Chris) Gagliano of Arlington, VA., Brian (Jennifer) Pope of Southport, CT., and Melissa June (Mark) Green of Seattle, WA; eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on February 15, 2007, by her husband Frank A. Stangler; a son, John Stangler in 2016; two sisters, Evelyn Dahler and Violet Gregersen; and a brother, Robert Gregersen.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to the National Wildlife Federation, (nwf.org) or the Rouse Resident Activity Fund, 701 Rouse Avenue, Youngsville, PA 16371. Those wishing to send condolences may do so by visiting
