Ike’s Headman, Black; Youngsville’s Clough Heading to Regionals

SHARON, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Easton Headman and Cael Black finished second, while Youngsville’s Collin Clough took third at the District 10 Tournament Saturday.

All three will return to Sharon High School next week to compete in the Northwest Regionals. Knights coach Kris Black was honored as the District 10 Section 3 Coach of the Year as well Saturday.

Headman, now 13-3 on the season, opened the tournament with a first-period pin over Titusville’s Nate Stearns in the quarterfinals at 138 pounds. He followed that with a 4-2 decision over Grove City’s Hunter Hohman in the semifinals, securing his first trip to regionals in the process. Headman dropped a 5-0 decision to Mercer’s Carson Filer in the finals.

Clough (18-4) had to battle his way through the consolation bracket after being pinned by the top seed and eventual champion at 145 pounds, Reynolds’ Kaeden Berger. He came back with a 3-2 decision over Mercer’s Harrison Murray in the consolation quarterfinals. Clough secured a trip to regionals and a spot in the third-place match with a 7-5 decision win against Saegertown’s Jaden Reagle in the consolation semifinals. He earned his third-place finish with a 3-1 decision over Fort LeBoeuf’s Connor McChesney.

Black (21-2) picked up a second-period pin over Northwestern’s Greg Guda in the 215-pound quarterfinals. He secured his third trip to regionals with a 12-4 major decision over Lakeview’s Isaac DeVault in the semifinals. Black squared off with Corry’s Hayden Linkerhof in the title match, a rematch of last week’s sectional championship which Linkerhof won with a 4-3 decision. Linkerhof jumped out to a 7-1 lead before Black nearly came back in the third. Linkerhof was able to keep Black from turning him for a near fall and held on for a 9-8 decision.

District 10 wrestlers will head back to Sharon next Saturday to compete against the top wrestlers from District 9 with the top three advancing to Super Regionals.
