Hunting Accident in Columbus Township Claims Life of Corry Man

COLUMBUS, Pa. – An accidental shooting claimed the life of 64-year old Gary Hunt of Cory while he was hunting black bears with another man in Columbus Township.

According to a Game Commission hunting-related shooting incident report, the shooting took place at approximately 12 p.m. on Saturday on State Game Lands 197.

According to the report, Hunt’s hunting companion was crossing a creek with the victim behind him when (he) tripped or slipped and the firearm discharged behind him into (Gary Hunt.)”

The Game Commission is handling the investigation
