Forest Road 137 Closed in Allegheny National Forest

November 22, 2021

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service announced that a two-mile segment of Forest Road 137 (FR 137) will temporarily close to through traffic for repairs.

Contractors will be replacing the superstructure, bridge deck, and guide rail of the aging bridge over the North Branch of Sugar Run located on the Bradford Ranger District in the Allegheny National Forest.

An engineering inspection found the bridge to be structurally deficient. As a safety measure, the load limit was reduced to three tons. Repairs will take an estimated four to six months, depending on the weather. The repair work will restore the bridge’s load limit to standard and provide safe passage for the public.
