Conservation District Announces Garden Plots Now Available

April 25, 2024

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County Conservation District announced the availability of garden plots at the Hatch Run Conservation Demonstration Area located on Hatch Run Road.

The gardens serve as a place for families to have a garden of their own. The Conservation District charges $25 for each plot to offset the costs of materials for the layout and preparation of the 25’ x 25’ garden plots.

“This is an excellent opportunity to get your children involved in the outdoors, get your hands dirty, and grow some of your own produce,” the Conservation District said in a release. “If you would like to plant a garden and just don’t have the space in your yard, or if you would like to plant a garden and just don’t have a yard; this is the opportunity for you.”

The Conservation District has installed rain barrels among the gardens to provide a water source for gardeners. Water is not guaranteed to be available and cannot be provided in conditions such as drought, but the hope is this will reduce the need for gardeners to haul their own water to their garden plots.

“We assign plots on a first come first serve basis with previous renters getting first choice of plot location,” the Conservation District said.
