Helen M. Nelson

Helen M. Nelson, 96, of Tidioute, Pa., went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Marquette Hospice Facility in Meadville, Pa.

She was born on April 1, 1925, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter to the late Virgil F. and Irine (Drace) Birchard. Helen married the love of her life, George W. Nelson on August 18, 1942, with whom she had 64 wonderful years before God took him home on May 18, 2007. She lived in Tidioute all of her life and had many dear friends. She was a member of the Baptist church in Tidioute, the Pleasantville Church, and the Allegheny Bible Church in Tidioute. Helen lived her life for her Lord and enjoyed baking pies and having her friends over after church for pie and fellowship.

God gave her two wonderful daughters, Lillian Nelson Shoemaker of FL and Cheryl (Richard) Nelson Brown of Grand Valley, Pa; her grandchildren, Adam (Susan) Shoemaker of FL, Autumn Martin of Coudersport, Pa, Heather (Mike) Henderson of Tidioute, Pa, Forrest (Shawna) Shoemaker of CA, Andrea (Richard) Massell of FL, Jessie Donalies of TN, Waylon Henderson of Tidioute, Pa, Sunora Henderson of Tidioute, Pa, Malaina Henderson of Tidioute, Pa, and Maritza, Amya & Shiann Shoemaker all of CA; 8 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Crocker and Mabel Brown both of Youngsville; her brothers, Lyman Morrison and his companion, Tammy, of Lansing, MI and Robert Morrison of Tidioute, Pa; a sister-in-law, Lucille Morrison of Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mark and Eva Lamb, who she lived with for some time, her step-father, Robert Morrison; a grandson, Ken Martin, her siblings, William (Marian) Birchard, Lillian (Earl) Turner, Bertha (Harry) Boughton and Shirley (Willard) McKay; two brother-in-law’s, Richard Brown and Tracy Crocker and a sister-in-law, Sandy Morrison.

Helen wanted to recognize her daughter, Cheryl for lovingly caring for her through her illnesses and her niece and nephew, Gay & Joe Wilcox and her neighbors and friends, Carol and Harold Simmons who were very dear to her. She also wanted to mention her niece, Barbie, who cared for her for many years as well as Kallei, who helped care for her and became very dear. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nurses through Crawford Co. Hospice as well as the Marquette Hospice facility for the wonderful care they gave Helen.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Allegheny Bible Church, 45 Hill Dr., Tidioute, Pa 16351, from 11 am-1 pm at which time a funeral service will be held there with her nephew, Rev. Frank Hodges as well as Rev. Dale Timco, pastor, officiating. A private burial will take place in the Tidioute Cemetery.
