Eisenhower Runs Past Union City

UNION CITY, Pa. – Keegan Eckstrom and Benji Bauer each scored three times and rushed for over 100 yards on the ground as Eisenhower topped Union City, 48-26.

Eckstrom took the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown and scored on runs of 18, and 68 yards. Bauer had three rushing touchdowns, including an 88-yard run, and Shawn Pascuzzi added another as the Knights moved to 2-0 on the season.

Eisenhower (2-0 overall, 2-0 Region 2) had a 27-0 lead before Union City (0-2, 0-2) got on the board thanks to a 48-yard scamper from Kyler Shaffer. The Knights led 34-6 at the half.

Both teams ran, and ran, and ran some more. The Knights finished with 397 total yards, 300 of them on the ground. The Bears had 371 total yards, 342 rushing.

The quarterbacks had nine pass attempts, combined. Eisenhower’s Garrett Jenson was 4-5 for 97 yards and Shaffer was 2-4 for 29 yards.

Wyatt Lookenhouse caught three of Jenson’s passes for 96 yards.

Bauer led the Eisenhower rushing attack with 114 yards on nine carries while Eckstrom needed just five carries to pick up 110 yards. Pascuzzi finished with 52 yards on eight rushes.

Shaffer ran 17 times for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Owen Kerns and Danny Ruckman each had 85 yards and a score.

Union City will try to pick up its first win of the season at Iroquois (0-1, 0-1) next week.

The Knights return home next week for a non-region matchup against Franklin (0-2).
