Dragons Make “Statement” with Rout of Conneaut

January 19, 2024

WARREN, Pa. – Brady Berdine scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter as Warren ended a 2-game skid with an 84-34 Region 6 win over Conneaut.

Rewatch the game:

With Warren (11-2 overall, 1-1 Region 6) leading 9-6 early in the first quarter, Berdine hit a free throw to start a 13-2 run that stretched the lead to 22-8. Berdine scored seven of the Dragons’ 13 points during that run.

“Just to know that you can come out here and go up and down the court and get a bunch of baskets, you just want more,” Berdine said during his Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “You just want to keep going.”

Conneaut (7-6, 1-1) took the lead, 3-2, on an Alex Brady 3-pointer. The Eagles never led again.

Warren increased the lead to 33-15 at the end of the first quarter and led 51-25 at the half.

It was exactly the type of performance the Dragons needed following a tough loss at Franklin earlier in the week.

“It definitely feels great, especially by this much,” Berdine said. “It really brings our confidence back. It’s almost like a statement game. We lost those games (and) we really shouldn’t have lost the Franklin game. I think just coming out here, giving it what we had, we did what we need to do.”

Shakiir Jordan, Aiden Tyson, Gage Long, and Brady each scored seven points for the Eagles.

Berdine led a trio of Dragons in double figures. Braylon Barnes had 15 points and Logan Crissey had 10.
