Dominant Dragons: Warren Beats Corry for Third Time This Season to Advance to D10 4A Semis

February 23, 2024

MEADVILLE, Pa. – There was no drama in the D10 Class 4A quarterfinals this time around for the Warren Dragons.

The No. 3 Dragons needed triple overtime to beat Slippery Rock in the quarterfinal round a year ago, but on Thursday put three players in double figures in a 72-52 win over No. 6 Corry, their third win over the Beavers this season.

The Dragons (18-5) overcame a somewhat slow start offensively, leading 14-8 after the first quarter behind nine points from Konnor Hoffman.

The second quarter was a different story, as the Dragons went on a 21-10 run to take a 35-18 halftime lead.

Hoffman was the offensive catalyst for the Dragons, pouring in a team-high 22 points, while Brady Berdine scored 10 of his 18 points during the second quarter run.

Braylon Barnes, meanwhile, scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, while Logan Crissey finished with eight points and Tommy Nyquist six.

Markus Lambert scored a game-high 23 points for Corry (13-10), while Landon Dean added seven.

With the win, Warren will meet No. 2 Grove City, a 58-48 winner over No. 7 Harbor Creek, on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
