Dennis W. Mason

Dennis W. Mason, 72, passed away January 30th at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa., after a short illness.

He was a 1966 graduate of Youngsville High School. Dennis was in all sports at YHS. He was Quarterback of the YHS first undefeated 1965 football team. Dennis also placed 5th in the Javelin event at the Pennsylvania State Track Meet in 1966, also held the YHS Javelin record of 174 ft 11 ½ in.. Dennis received a scholarship at Edinboro College for football. A head injury he received in a game in his freshman year caused him to lose the scholarship.

Dennis joined the Air Force for 3 years and was stationed at Okinawa during Viet Nam Era where he was exposed to agent orange. After the Air Force Dennis moved to Texas, wrote a Novel called the “LANTREN” and owned and operated two Tae Kwon Do schools with his sister in law, June Kiser Mason. Dennis became a 4th degree Black Belt. Dennis moved back to Youngsville in 1998. He was employed by Whirley in Warren, Dennis also taught reflexology in various facilities in Warren, Pa. Dennis was a member of the American Legion post 658 in Youngsville. The last few years Dennis lived and took care of his elderly mother Ruth Mason.

Dennis is survived by his mother Ruth Mason and two brothers, Gib Mason and Ric Mason, sister in-laws, Vicki Mason and June Mason. Preceded in death by brother Baby David Mason and his father Virgil W. Mason.

No funeral service, however a Celebration of Life will be announced at later date.
