County to Hold Candidate’s Night on Feb. 9

January 16, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – A plethora of public offices are up for election in 2023, and Warren County will host a candidate’s night for those interested in running.

“This year at the county level we have all three commissioners up for election, school director in all three regions, Magisterial District Judge in districts 37-2-01 and 37-3-01, Treasurer, Register & Recorder, Sheriff, and all three auditors,” Warren County Director of Elections Krystle Ransom said.

In addition to those county-wide offices, there are three seats on Warren City Council, plus township supervisors, borough council members, and auditors and constables up across most municipalities throughout the county.

“The townships and boroughs have until Jan. 23 to work with the election office to determine what seats are up for election and their terms,” Ransom said.

Ransom added that a final proclamation for all available seats would be posted the first week in February.

The candidate’s night will take place on Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. in the main courtroom of the Warren County Courthouse.

“I will go over the ‘ins and outs’ of running for office including, but not limited to, campaign finance, circulating petitions, filing fees, cross filing, and any other questions that may arise,” Ransom said. “I am asking that interested constituents call me to reserve their seat so I can prepare a customized packet for the office for which they’re interested in running.”

Potential candidates may begin circulating petitions to appear on their respective ballots on Feb. 14 and must have them filed in Ransom’s office by March 7.

“I strongly encourage that once the required amount of signatures are obtained the petition be filed within my office as soon as possible,” Ransom said.

One change for this election, Ransom noted, is that candidates will no longer receive a CD containing a walking street list of voters for the position for which they are running. Instead, that list will be emailed for free or given via a USB at cost.

Anyone with questions, or who would like to reserve a seat at the candidate’s night, should contact Ransom at 814-728-3406, via email at [email protected], or for questions contact the municipality in which they’re interested in running.
