YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Concerns over parking during events were voiced during Monday’s Youngsville borough council meeting.
Patrons at the recent craft show in Youngsville blocked the parking lot at the Youngsville Post Office, creating an issue for mail trucks getting in and out.
“The craft show is a nightmare for the carriers and also the truck that comes to pick up and deliver our outgoing mail,” said Laurie Matson from the Youngsville Post Office. “Mail trucks couldn’t get out. At the end of the day, we have a big truck that comes in and leaves. We need something.”
Matson said she spoke to the Pennsylvania State Police, who advised her to request having signs put up.
“It’s also a safety issue when it gets dark out,” said Youngsville Chief of Police Todd Mineweaser. “There’s not a lot of lighting. We’ve requested signs all along Fireman’s Drive. People park on both sides of the road. I know that’s an issue.”
Matson said the issues went beyond just the mail carriers as well.
“I know on Saturday (at the craft show) there were people parking people in,” Matson said.
Mayor Scott Nelson said they would continue to investigate the issue.
“Our conversation will continue,” Nelson said.
