Community Conservation Partnership Deemed a Success

WARREN, Pa. – Warren County officially closed out a successful Community Conservation Partnership grant at Wednesday’s Commissioners’ meeting.

Dan Glotz, County Director of Planning and Zoning, gave a glowing review of the partnership, which involved a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, as well as the City of Warren.

“The county had never done a process like this before,” Glotz explained. “We got a grant from the DCNR to develop a parks and recreation and greenways plan for the county. The plan turned out exceptionally well.”

Glotz went on to explain that the grant helped make improvements to county and city properties, as well as fund a conceptual site plan for Washington Park, as well as a four-phase proposal for expanding and improving the Farm Colony Complex in North Warren, among other items.

“The program definitely met the needs that we have as far as recreation goes and the inventory of the parks and their needs,” Glotz said. “The city has used their recreation plan for the same reasons, to make improvements to properties that they have. Once we completed these plans, the DCNR said we can do the funding for early implementation projects.”
