April 30, 2024

WARREN, Pa. – Jefferson DeFrees Family Center announced the return of Wednesday Walks and Talks, starting May 15, 2024.

After a brief hiatus, this program is back to offer residents an opportunity to explore Crescent Park and engage with local leaders.

“We’re excited to kick off another season of Wednesday Walks and Talks, offering a blend of outdoor adventure, education, and community engagement,” said Melinda Johnson, Executive Director at Jefferson DeFrees Family Center. “As we come together to explore the beauty of Warren and learn from local leaders like Joe Reinke, we’re fostering connections and appreciation for our shared heritage.”

Beginning promptly at 10 a.m., participants are invited to assemble at the doorstep of Jefferson DeFrees Family Center to embark on a leisurely group stroll to and through Crescent Park. The inaugural event of the season features city arborist Joe Reinke, renowned for his expertise on the city’s proud heritage as a tree city.

Reinke will deliver a brief presentation shedding light on Warren’s distinguished tradition of urban forestry and the meticulous selection of trees that grace the city’s landscape.

Following the presentation, the group will reconvene at Jefferson DeFrees Family Center around 11 a.m. Importantly, this event is open to all members of the community and completely free of charge.
