City of Warren Redevelopment Authority Awards Facade Grant Funds for Three Projects

July 29, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Three facade grant applications were approved during Tuesday’s City of Warren Redevelopment Authority meeting.

The three properties are at 225 Pennsylvania Ave. W. (Faith Inn), as well as 428-438 Pennsylvania Ave. W. and Goat Fort Climbing on Clark St.

The grant application for the Faith Inn Property was submitted by the Warren-Forest Counties Economic Opportunities Council (EOC). The project will total approximately $48,000.

“The project will include demolition of the concrete steps up front, facade improvements including painting, new sign work, new glasswork and other improvements to the facade,” said Warren City Planner Vince DeJoy. “

The second project is at 428-438 Pennsylvania Ave. W. involves removing the old facade on the properties that are exposing what is an existing storefront.

“Basically, it will be re-working the facade in line with the other projects to the west of the site,” DeJoy said. “It will involve painting the facade with the color schemes that are on the adjoining buildings and remove the ugliness that is on there now. The property owner has done a fantastic job on these buildings and has invested quite a bit of his own funds.”

The third project, Goat Fort Climbing, will entail new signage, landscaping and some electrical work, with the estimate at $8,410.

“It will be a marked improvement and consistent with the neighboring business, Pennwild Outdoors,” DeJoy said.

All three projects were approved for up to $5,000 in funds that are doled out on a one-for-one match and paid out after completion of the projects.
