Allegheny Outfitters, Bent Run Earn Wins in Warren Youth Climbing League

March 27, 2024

The Warren Youth Climbing League (WYCL) was climbing the walls again this past Monday, as Kinzua Vet Clinic took on Allegheny Outfitters and Bent Run battled Slick Text. The Whirley team had a bye week.

Coleman Miller and Chase Long from Kinzua Vet Clinic both posted high scores averaging 307 points each. And with four teammates: Marshall Harrington, Joseph VerMilyea, Evan Wellner, and Jaxon Moore all averaging over 140 points the KVC team were able to put 4461 points on the scoreboard. However, this would not be enough to top team Allegheny Outfitters.

Coming off of last week’s win, team AO tallied up 5255 points. For a second week in a row Nina Harrington, Razzlin Pratz, Eloise Harrington, and Elsie Woldt posted big numbers, averaging 371, 273, 252, and 210 points respectively, but it was truly a team effort as four other climbers averaged over 140 points earning AO the win.

The second match was just as exciting. Slick Text and Bent Run exchanged the lead several times. Strong climbing by Lily White, Bella Smith and Gabriella Bango kept Bent Run on top for the majority of the match averaging 483, 210, and 198 respectively. However, Slick Text’s Lane Morrison, Scarlett Wymer, Riley Littlefield, Markus Hammond, and Alivia Glotz were crushing the boulders (averaging 291, 221, 193, 174,and 174 respectively), and Slick Text moved into the lead late in the match. However, it was a late top of the hardest boulder by Lily White that elevated Bent Run to victory 4837 to 4507.

The Warren Youth Climbing League (WYCL) as a short break in competitions. The next meet is Monday, April 15th at The Goat Fort, and will see Bent Run vs. Kinzua Vet Clinic and Slick Text vs. Whirley.
