This Wednesday, the annual event will take on even more importance, with non-profits hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year.

This year is the ninth edition of the event, which seeks to follow up a year in which it raised just over $648,000 in donations for non-profit organizations throughout Warren County.

“We’re excited and optimistic about another successful year,” said Community Foundation of Warren County Executive Director John Lasher. “People have been dropping checks off and mailing them in already, so we’re starting a little ahead of last year.”

There is a $10 minimum donation, with interested donors able to visit WarrenGives.org and pay via Mastercard, Discover and Visa.

The event runs from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

“We’re hoping for a big day,” Lasher said. “Last year we had over $648,000 and we’re hoping to surpass that outstanding day.”

That number was a record, but, as Lasher said, they are hoping for an even bigger day this time around.

A total of 100 nonprofits throughout Warren County are participating in the event, which has raised just over $3 million in its eight years.

Each donor may contribute to as many as 10 different organizations.

There is also a $60,000 match pool in which dollars are distributed proportionally among organizations based on their donations.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Community Foundation office at (814) 726-9553 or email at [email protected].

“We’ll be posting updates throughout the day on social media and on our website,” Lasher added.

Those wishing to monitor the progress on Wednesday may log on to the Community Foundation’s Website at cfowc.org
