WARREN, PA. – Meet. Sniff. Run. Play.
That’s the motto at Woofington Dog Park, which had its grand opening on Sunday. Adjacent to the Warren County Visitors Bureau, the park has been years in the making.
There was a good turnout for both human and canines alike for the park, which is open from dawn until dusk daily.
“We’re extremely excited,” Rocco DelPrince said. Rebecca DelPrince, Rocco’s wife, is the Board President, a group that also includes Kassie Damcott, Karlene Smith, Ruby MacWithey, Renee Tower, Greg Austin and Jennifer Rossey.
There was a contest when the idea for the park was still in its infancy stages for a name, with the Woofington Dog Park idea submitted by Denise Hall of Targeted Pet Treats.
The grand opening included a raffle, which had a number of baskets sponsored by local businesses throughout the county, as well Woofington Park apparel that included hats, mugs, t-shirts, frisbees and other items, as well as cookies, with all of the money raised going toward maintenance and improvements for the park.
Everyone using the park must read and agree to the park rules. A sign-up form can be found on the Woofington Dog Park Facebook Page.
“We want to thank the Warren County Visitors Bureau for supporting us,” the DelPrinces said. “We also want to thank the DeFrees Family Foundation, the Community Foundation, Targeted Pet Care, the Sokolski Family Foundation, all of our banner sponsors and the community and general public.”
