February 24, 2022

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Pennsylvania beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday.

The advisory runs until 1 p.m. Friday. Mixed precipitation is expected, with snow and sleet accumulations between four and six inches and ice accumulation of up to 2/10 inches.

“Several hours of moderate to heavy snow will be followed by a few hours of sleet,” the advisory said. “Some freezing rain may also occur Friday morning.”

The NWS advised gusty wind occurring after the precipitation ends Friday could lead to power outages. Travel conditions are most likely to be affected overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.

“The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission remind motorists to adjust speeds based on driving conditions as winter weather impacts Pennsylvania roadways,” the advisory said.
