June 26, 2024

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of Warren and McKean Counties on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The Warning runs until 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday and is valid for east central Warren and west central McKean Counties. Heavy rain in the region has already produced 1-2 inches of rain, with another inch possible as the afternoon progresses, according to the NWS.

“Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” the NWS said. “Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas (is possible).”

The NWS advises motorists to avoid attempting to cross flooded areas.

“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads,” the NWS said. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.”
