Warren County Sports HOF set to Usher in New Class of Inductees

June 3, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – In a county rich in sports history, it’s been too long since a Warren County Sports Hall of Fame class has been inducted.

Current and former Warren County Sports Hall of Fame directors Nate Sandberg and Jeff Bartsch, along with a new board of directors, have ensured that wait will end.

After 12 years, on Saturday evening in a ceremony at the Conewango Club in Warren, the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame will induct eight in the living category and two people in the deceased category.

“After over two years of hard work and preparation, the WCSHOF is excited to induct the first class since 2010,” said Sandberg. “These inductees represent the very best of Warren County athletics and we are proud to celebrate them and their accomplishments.”

In the living category are James Curren (basketball), Hallie Bunk-Dubia (golf, basketball, softball), Kelly Fredericks (football), Aaron Lanzel (cross country, coaching), Ben Maljovec (football), Ed “Wink” Rickerson (baseball), Fran Troyan (coaching) and Jeff Zaffino (bowling). In the deceased category are Kelly Allen (football) and Andy Randas (coaching). The Cornerstone Lounge (organization) will also be recognized.

Ten — ages 30 and over — from Warren County sports lore were inducted by a vote of 450 WCSHOF members. After more than 10 years, the membership ballot included 28 living or deceased nominees.

“Eleven great and deserving inductees will be enshrined into the Warren County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday evening,” said Bartsch. “This is truly exciting.”
