WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County Conservation District is still accepting applications for its summer camps. This year’s camp theme is “Outdoor Survivor.”
Children’s Nature Camp (CNC): Geared towards elementary school students from 1st-6th grades and is broken up into three age groups. CNC I (July 25-26) includes children entering first and second grade, CNC II (July 13-14) is for children entering third and fourth grade, and CNC III (July 10-11) is for children entering 5th and 6th grade.
CNC will be held from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the pavilion of the Hatch Run Conservation Demonstration Area on Hatch Run Road, a quarter mile past Penn DOT’s Driver’s License Center. Children will learn and discover the uniqueness and importance of plants and animals in our local environment.
Kids in the Children’s Nature Camp will also have a chance to play in the stream and fish in the pond, where some campers have caught their first fish. A few spots are left for each camp. The cost for all CNC camps is $40 per child.
Kindergarten Nature Camp (KNC): A one-day camp for children going into Kindergarten this fall. This camp is also based out of the pavilion at the Hatch Run Conservation Demonstration Area on Hatch Run Road; a quarter mile past PennDOT’s Driver’s License Center. KNC will be offered on two dates: July 24 and July 27. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The camp on July 27 is full, but many spots are still available for the camp on July 24. Please note that the July 24 camp was more recently added to the camp schedule due to increased interest, so the application only lists the July 27 date. All submitted applications will be considered for the July 24 date only, since the July 27 date is full, as mentioned above.
This is a fun-filled camp learning about water, plants, animals, and soil (be prepared to get wet and dirty). There will be crafts, games, and exploring in nature. This camp will be limited to 10 children per camp day, so act fast! The cost for KNC is $20 per child.
Application Procedure: Please complete the application with the parental consent form in addition to the Responsibility Clause, Photo Release Form, and Emergency Medical Information. Please use separate forms for each child attending. For additional camp applications, call the Conservation District office, or visit our website at https://wcconservation.net/education-%26-outreach to print any of the above listed forms.
Camp scholarships are available for those in need. Enclose a check or money order made out to the Warren County Conservation District and mail all the above information to: Warren County Conservation District, 4000 Conewango Avenue, Warren, PA 16365. Application materials can also be dropped off at the Warren County Conservation District office. No Refunds for cancellations two weeks or less before camp starts.
