“The Commissioners and Prison Board support the jail staff who did all they could when the alert of Burham’s escape was made,” a release from the Commissioners and the Prison Board Tuesday night, July 11, said. “The Prison Staff has worked tirelessly to collaborate with local and regional law enforcement to assist with all investigations, and they are to be commended for their efforts.”

The Commissioners are awaiting the outcome of the criminal investigations of the breakout – the breakout investigation is being led by the Warren City Police Department – to see if there are any internal staff issues at the Jail.

“The board is confident in the administration and workers and their overall commitment to security. Working in the jail is a challenging job,” the release stated. “The Commissioners and Prison Board support the Warren County Correction Officers.”

The Prison Board includes all three Warren County Commissioners – Trisha Durbin, Ben Kafferlin, and Jeff Eggleston – as well as Warren County District Attorney Rob Greene, Warren County Sherriff Brian Zeybel, and Warren County Treasurer Dennis Munksgard – said they will review all policies and procedures related to inmate access and observation.

Editor’s note: Greene was not a part of the media release, and does not endorse any of the statements made, being a part of the current investigation into the escape of Burham.
