Warren County Career Center Students Shine at FBLA Regional Competition

January 25, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – A total of 15 Warren County Career Center students finished in the top three in their respective categories in the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) regional competition on Jan. 12.

The WCCC students competed against students from Corry, Fort LeBoeuf, McDowell, Northwestern, Erie School District and General McLane, with those 15 advancing to the state competition April 11-13 in Hershey.

A total of 23 WCCC students competed.

Because of COVID restrictions, just the five students who competed in the performance-only categories went to Penn State Behrend, with the rest completing written tests (100 multiple choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes) at WCCC.

Two of those students, Madison Hamler and Sarah Tome, took first place in graphic design, while Macey Eyler took first place in the job interview category.

In the job interview, students had to put together a resume and cover letter prior to the interview.

For graphic design, students had to create a logo and artwork for a new men’s clothing store. They also had to put together a package that consisted of the store logo, store interior design, t-shirt and web page design.

“We’re very proud of all of them,” said Warren County Career Center FBLA Advisor Cathie Cummings. “It’s such a great experience. I’m so grateful and I know the students were as well that we were able to go and compete in this again.”

The event was canceled last year due to COVID.

FBLA features a number of different categories, including but not limited to IT, hospitality, health care administration and marketing.

In addition, eight of the students to advance to states also went to states in DECA – Caidence Braley, Kendra Chase, Paige Dexter, Macey Eyler, Peyton Gazdak, Christian Green, Sarah Tome and Mitchell Rossman.
