DUBOIS, Pa. – Warren County Career Center students competed at the district DECA competition at Penn State DuBois, with 14 students qualifying for the state competition.
The following students qualified for the state competition in their events:
Charles Strickland – Hotel and Lodging Management – 1st Place
Drake Lawson – Principles of Hospitality and Tourism – 1st Place
Gracie Tomassoni – Business Services Marketing – 1st Place
Kaylee Cyphert – Principles of Marketing – 2nd Place
Marissa Gourley and Addyson Hannold – Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team – 2nd Place
Sarah Tome – Apparel and Accessories Marketing – 2nd Place
Aubrey Carrington – Entrepreneurship – 2nd Place
David Perry – Human Resources Management – 2nd Place
Samuel Smith – Marketing Communications – 2nd Place
Andria Anderson – Quick Serve Restaurant Management – 2nd Place
Rylan Meneo – Sports and Entertainment Marketing – 2nd Place
Kaylee Lundmark – Personal Financial Literacy – 2nd Place
Kaylee Lundmark also won an award for the highest test score in District 1.
Bree Huntington will also be competing at States in the “Integrated Marketing Campaign – Event” category which will consist of the exam, a written entry, and a judged presentation.
Participants are scored based on two components:
- 100-question multiple choice exam
- Role play – Students are given a scenario of a real-world situation in their Marketing or Business event and have to find a solution and present their solution to a judge.
Students who place first and second in each event advance to States onward from Districts.
District One for DECA includes WCCC, Brockway, DuBois, Ridgway, Smethport, and St. Marys.

A total of 17 students competed at the District Competition from WCCC. 14 students will be representing Warren County at the state competition – the DECA State Competition will take place Feb. 21-23 in Hershey.
