Touring Warren County: Warren County Fair

August 3, 2023

PITTSFIELD, Pa. – The Warren County Fair is one of the area’s most unique traditions, and the 92nd Warren County Fair will add some new wrinkles to its traditions.

The 2023 Warren County Fair is Aug. 8-12, with Aug. 7 as a “free day,” and while it will feature many of the same favorites long-time fair-goers have come to expect, there will also be a different feel to it.

“What’s cool this year is people are going to freak out a little bit,” said Dale Bliss of the Warren County Fair Board recently on ‘Coffee and a Conversation.’ “For years, the fair layout has been very similar. This year, we’ve added a few new vendor areas and attraction areas. We’ve removed some significant dirt, we’ve added some, we’ve grown grass and added to the infrastructure to make things nicer and better. People will notice it right away. We put a lot of work and effort into giving it a fresh look.”

The schedule will follow a similar pattern to recent years and can be found here. Bliss said that is by design.

“We’re excited about the Fair schedules,” Bliss said. “As we build toward the weekend we have a lot of motorsport activity and things like that. We design it that way.”

The concert schedule is always a big hit, and this year will include Tracy Byrd and Jake Worthington.

“When you come to concerts at the Fair, there is no extra charge, which is unique,” Bliss said. “You get to see headline entertainment for basically nothing.”

There will also be classics like the tractor pull, Stock Car football, Woodman’s competition, and steer dump.

But what brings a smile to Bliss’ face, more than anything, is the people. The longtime voice of the Fair enjoys the lasting relationships and the people he gets to see every day.

“I look forward mostly to the people,” Bliss said. “From the time we get there until the time we leave, all of us are constantly running into somebody. Whether you saw them last week or a year ago, it’s fun to catch up.”

Quite simply, Bliss and the other board members feel honored to be a part of an event that has been so vital to the community.

“It’s an honor,” Bliss said. “For some of us that have been around a while down there, it becomes a family thing, putting it together.”

Family. Family among the board. Families having fun all week. Families making memories.

“We’re pretty excited,” Bliss said. “We had a great one last year, probably the most prolific we’ve ever had. We had the weather and I think people were in the mood to come out and have a good time with their friends and neighbors. We look to make new memories every year.”
