Touring Warren County: Simpler Times Museum

July 11, 2022

TIDIOUTE, Pa. – Nestled in the woods about five miles north of Tidioute off of Route 62 is the Simple Times Museum, a true Warren County treasure.

Its name truly encapsulates everything you will see here. Quite simply, it takes you back to a simpler time.

The museum was started 32 years ago by Bruce and Annis Ziegler, who have since passed away.

It is now run by Bruce and Annis’ daughter, Beth.

Last year, a number of organizations, including the Warren County Historical Society and the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry threw their weight in support of the museum after it was suggested by some of its board members that it close.

Thankfully, the museum has remained open, and its charm is matched by its rich history.

Its collection, obtained by the Zieglers over the years, is truly impressive. Upon entering, it’s asked that you make a small donation ($4) and sign the guest book. From there, you enter a building that is filled with vintage cars that date from 1913 to 1966.

Also in that first building are a number of old gas engines and gasoline pumps, as well as vintage signage.

Some of those can be seen here:

This building and its collection are well worth a long visit, but it’s far from the only thing the museum has to offer.

There are three additional buildings, in fact, filled with tractors and engines, as well as AB & AC Model Macks.

It’s truly a museum you can spend hours enjoying.

The Warren County Historical Society has called the museum a “fantastic place,” which is a succinct summation of this gem.

The museum is open on Fridays and Saturdays from Noon to 4 p.m. from May through mid October and will also schedule tours for car clubs, bike rallies, reunions, youth groups, and other groups.
