WARREN, Pa. – St. Marys scored six runs in the second and five in the fourth, and Molly Hanslovan allowed just one hit in a 15-0, 4-inning win over Warren in the first round of the Pennsylvania Little League District 10 Tournament at Betts-Jackson Field on Wednesday.
The first five St. Marys batters reached and scored in the second inning, with Hanslovan and Allison Mirtz each hitting 2-run doubles in the frame.
St. Marys scored four of its five fourth-inning runs with two outs. Sophie Surra hit a 2-run triple and Zoe Romanic hit an inside-the-park home run to cap the scoring.
After walking the bases loaded in the first, Mislovan settled into a groove in the circle. She issued just one more free pass, allowed one hit – a single to Kendra Danielson in the third – and struck out seven.
Hanslovan also had a pair of hits, scored twice, and drove in three runs.
Both teams will play again on Friday. St. Marys will host DuBois, while Warren will travel to Bradford. DuBois was an 11-1 winner over Bradford on Wednesday.
The winner of the St. Marys/DuBois game will punch their ticket to the District 10 Championship game on June 28. The loser will play the Warren/Bradford winner on June 26.
