Sheffield Volleyball Drops 5-Set Match Against Ridgway

October 4, 2021

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Sheffield volleyball lost a 5-set thriller to Ridgway on Monday, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 12-15.

Leading Sheffield were Kadence Steffan (13 digs, 17 assists), Kassidy Orinko (17 digs, 10 kills, 6 blocks) and Lynzie Grubbs (6 kills, 5 blocks).

“We served well the entire night but had some unfortunate serving errors in the fifth set,” said Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay. “We struggled at times with our passing which caused us to have to run an out of system offense or free ball the ball over the net.

“Communication was an issue tonight and that is definitely something we can control on our side of the net. It can be so detrimental to the match when the communication isn’t there. We have one more match before finally getting back into the gym for a couple practices. Hopefully, we can iron out some of the issues before playing again Friday and Saturday.”

The Sheffield JV team was a 2-0 winner, 25-23, 25-23. Emily Foster had seven digs and three kills and Syrena Antonuccio four service aces.
