WARREN, Pa. – Santa and Mrs. Claus made their annual trip to the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry office to collect all the letters from the mailbox there this weekend. But they weren’t there alone.
While there is still time to get your letter to Santa (the mailbox will be available until Dec. 20), those already collected could be in danger of falling into the wrong hands.
Apparently unbeknownst to Santa and Mrs. Claus, but knownst to us, the Grinch of Warren County was lurking behind the mailbox waiting for his opportunity to snatch that correspondence away from Santa.
His plot to steal Christmas in Who-ville foiled, the vile Grinch has no doubt set his Grinchy eyes on Warren County.
Have all the Grinch’s good deeds this season been a ruse to curry favor before attempting to steal Christmas here? Would the Grinch pose for photos during the annual Christmas Parade and Walk to build trust? Did he meet local children and police officers during Shop with a Cop so police wouldn’t suspect him if all the toys and gifts went missing on Christmas Day?
To wit, the Grinch posted this comment to his Facebook page just hours after meeting those children.
“Me explaining to a young child that I WILL be taking all of her presents while making her believe that I won’t be. A masterclass in doublespeak.”
Perhaps the most treacherous act committed to date is the Grinch’s attempt to ingratiate himself with none other than Santa and Mrs. Claus!
In fact, the Grinch was seen enjoying a beverage and a meal with the Clauses at Bent Run Brewing Co. mere hours after sneaking into the photo at the WCCBI mailbox. That meeting was followed by this ominous post from the Grinch.
“Keep your enemies close.”
What more does the dastardly Grinch have in store for Santa and the children of Warren County this Christmas?
