Ralph L. Brown

Ralph L. Brown, 89, of Warren, PA., died peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

He was born September 4, 1932, in Youngsville, PA. He was the son of the late Robert and Sara Cameron Brown. He has resided in Warren, Pa., since 1950.

Ralph was a 1950 graduate of Youngsville High School. He attended Bob Jones University of Greensville, N.C. and spent a summer in Alaska, working as a carpenter, earning monies to help pay for his college education. He was a graduate of Grove City College with a bachelor’s degree in Education. He earned his master’s degree from Penn State University.

He was employed with the Warren County School District, starting as an English Teacher. He then was Vice-Principal at the former Beaty Jr High School and Principal at Eisenhower High School and Warren Area High School, retiring after 37 years employment. After his retirement, he worked part-time at the Cable Hollow Golf Course. Ralph was a founding member of the Youngsville Scholarship fund. He was a volunteer with retired teachers, doing lawn mowing or any odd job needed at the Warren Y.M.C.A. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Retirement System. He was an active member at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, where he had been a lay reader and involved in the church finance committee.

He held a private pilot license, flying at Broken-straw Airport. Ralph was a beekeeper. Starting in the late 1960s, he was an avid runner, swimmer and enjoyed exercising. He ran in the Philadelphia Marathon. He had spent his winters in Florida, where he became a proficient pool player. His greatest joy in life, was being a good husband, father, and grandfather. He could always tell a good life experience story.

He is survived by his two children, Robert G. Brown and wife, Natalie of Youngsville, Pa., Melissa A. Meece and husband, Brad of Bradenton, FL., a sister – Shirley Blair of Warren, Pa., a brother – Denny Brown and wife, Janet of Lakewood, N.Y., half-Brother-Bill Brown of Erie, Pa., three grandchildren, Tyler Lewis, Angela Hughes, Grant Brown, two great grandchildren – Claire and Vera Hughes, several nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on December 4, 2020, by his wife of 66 years, Donna J. Jones Brown whom he married August 28, 1954, in Youngsville, Pa., a half-Sister, Marcia Colvin. A private funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., Warren, Pa. Interment will be in Youngsville Cemetery, Youngsville, Pa.
