Plenty to Celebrate as Warren Public Library Turns 150

May 1, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren Public Library has had plenty to celebrate in the last year, and this past week, they shared the love with their patrons.

The library celebrated Patron Appreciation Day on Tuesday (April 25) as part of National Library Week, with snacks, refreshments, and an opportunity to interact with the staff.

This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the library.

“We’re just doing little things throughout the year for that,” said Warren Public Library Administrative Assistant Sandi Dexter.

Dexter also noted that the library ran a promotion during the month of April in which patrons were asked to share favorite memories of the library as part of their 150th celebration. All participants were entered into a drawing for $25 gift cards, which will be announced on Monday (May 1).

There are three categories for the contest 5-11, 12-17, and adult, with the 5-11 gift cards from Walmart and the 12-17 and adult winners getting gift cards from the Arbor House Cafe & Tea Room.

The library also has a Family Superhero Movie Night scheduled for Thursday (May 4).

In addition to the many events, which can be found here, the library recently completed a substantial renovation, the crown jewel of which is the new teen space, which has been very well received.

“I don’t think in all my time here I’ve seen so many kids coming in,” Dexter said. “Usually around 3:15 p.m. (after school) we get a bunch of them coming in, and they’ll stay until dinner time. It’s been great. We’ve had a lot of regulars and a lot of new kids coming in also.”
