Pickleball Courts at Betts Park Nearing Completion; Grand Opening Slated for Aug. 2

July 27, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – What once was just a dream is now a reality.

The eight state-of-the-art pickleball courts at Betts Park, a project spearheaded by Warren Pickleball Inc., are nearly completed, with a grand opening slated for Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 5:30 p.m. A rain date, if necessary, would be Aug. 3.

Construction began in April, and, with the paint going down on the courts last weekend, they are just about ready for the public to enjoy.

“From when we came back to Warren, there were approximately 35 people playing and now we have between 150 and 200 within less than two years,” said Warren Pickleball Inc. President Doug James back in April. “It’s the fastest-growing sport in the world. And I think Warren’s got that pickleball bug now.”

Several city officials, as well as Warren Pickleball Inc. members are expected to be in attendance for the grand opening, with the courts officially being open for public use immediately after.
