Andy CloseMary D. Shaffer, 84, of Warren, Pa., passed away on Nov. 28, 2021, at Warren General Hospital.
Mary was born on Sept. 14, 1937, in Punxsutawney, Pa., to the late John and Florence Weaver Mauk.
She worked at Solar Electric later known as Phillips Lighting, for 25 years from which she retired. After retirement, she ran a child daycare in her home. She enjoyed the little ones as much as they enjoyed her. Mary liked doing puzzles and word searches but mostly she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by them.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Barb (John) Woods; a sister, Jane (Paul) Depp of Cuba, N.Y.; grandchildren: Keith (Sara) Woods, Stephanie (Rob) Arthurs and Brad (Jodi) Woods, all of Warren; six great-grandchildren, BrookeLynn, Peyton, Kenley, Grayson, Camden and Shayna. As well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel S. Shaffer in 2018; a son, Samuel L. Shaffer in 2001; two brothers: Lynn and Gene Mauk.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. James Swanson, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, Pa.
