Andy CloseMarjorie Ann Johnson, also known as Margie, was born in Warren, Pa, on March 1, 1928. She went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 23, 2021, at the age of 93.
Margie was preceded in death by her mother, Laura (Witz) Johnson; father, Franklin Johnson; husband, Donald Hedman; and recently by grandsons: Nathaniel Yaple and Adam English of Warren, Pa.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Near of South Carolina. Margie is also survived by her daughters: Linda Hedman of Pennsylvania, and Sue and Sally Hedman of Virginia; a niece, Debra Tresohlavy (Ron) of South Carolina; several other nieces and nephews; granddaughters: Laura Pohto (Dale) of Ohio, Lisa Casey (Dave) of Virginia and Stevie Lester English of Pennsylvania; grandsons: Steven Dinger (Tina), Jeffrey Dinger (Lisa) and Matthew Bancroft (Sherri), all of Pennsylvania, and Doug Bancroft (Katherine) of Michigan; great-grand-daughters: Ashley Hoffman (Tyler) and Rachel Dinger of Pennsylvania; Sophia and Olivia Casey of Virginia; great-grandsons: Mitchell Dinger and Kyle Bancroft of Pennsylvania, Alex Pohto of Ohio, David Casey of Virginia, Brayden Steffey of the United Kingdom and Sawyer Bancroft of Michigan; and great-great-grandchildren: Cash Dinger and Lily Hoffman of Pennsylvania.
Margie graduated from Kane High School, Kane, Pa., in 1946, and married her sweetheart, Donald Hedman, soon after.
She resided in Warren, Pa., most of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. More recently, she resided in Virginia and attended the Calvary Chapel of Richmond, Va.
She had been employed by Allegheny Buffalo China Co., Clarendon, Pa., Central Nursing Home, Warren, Pa., and held various part-time positions, including a census taker for the City of Warren, Pa.
Margie loved God, family, music, dancing, camping, boating on the Kinzua Reservoir, and shelling while on beach vacations with family.
She played Pinochle and enjoyed winning. She had a courageous spirit for outdoor adventures, taking many of the teenaged grandchildren on camping excursions in New York and Pennsylvania.
There will be a celebration of life ceremony at Calvary Chapel of Richmond, Va., on Jan. 29, 2022, at 2 p.m., with donuts and coffee immediately following the service. A second service will be held in the spring of 2022 in Warren, Pa.
