Andy CloseJohn F. Christensen, 98, of Jamestown, NY, died unexpectedly, Thursday, February 18, 2021 at home.
Born December 10, 1922, in Kushequa, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Chris Andrew and Ora Mae Christensen. He served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed at the Chautauqua Mall where he was a security officer for many years and also was employed at Voting Machine in Jamestown. He officially retired for the second time at the age of 80. John loved flower gardening and will be remembered for the huge, gorgeous flowers he grew.
Surviving is his wife, Carolle Caldwell Christensen; 1 son, Gerald (Dianna) Christensen of North Carolina; 4 stepchildren, Gene (Glenda) Christensen of Jacksonville, NC, Douglas (Tawa) Pollock of Georgia, Michelle (Skyler) Cross of Mayville, NY, and Daryle Pollock of Groveland, NY; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.
A memorial service will be held at the Sugar Grove Branch of McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. on Wednesday, February 24th at 1 pm. Inurnment will be in Lottsville Cemetery, Lottsville, PA. Online expressions of sympathy may be left at www.mckinneyfuneral.com
