Eagles See Season Come to a Close in D10 1A Semifinals

MEADVILLE, Pa. – With the game scoreless, West Middlesex scored six runs in the fifth inning en route to a 6-3 win over Youngsville in the D10 Class 1A semifinals.

Bowen Briggs had an RBI groundout to get the Big Reds on the board, which was followed by a Kyle Gilson RBI single, a Tyler Blanton RBI single, and two more RBI singles from Caleb Koncar and Logan Kent.

Matt DeSimone had a 2-run double for Youngsville in the bottom half of the inning and Nathan Lucks had an RBI groundout.

Koncar and Evan Gilson finished with three hits each for the Big Reds, and Aiden Puskar and Blanton had two hits apiece.

Kyle Gilson got the complete game win, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits, striking out nine, and walking two.

DeSimone and James Johnson had two hits each for Youngsville.

Lucks took the loss, allowing six runs on 13 hits in five-plus innings, striking out four and walking one.
