City Council Race Close; Burkhouse Wins Register & Recorder Nomination

May 19, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – The race for the Republican nominees for Warren City Council was about as close as it could be Tuesday.

The four candidates, Wendy McCain, Jared Villela, Joe Michaels and Sam Harvey, were separated by just 42 total votes, according to unofficial results posted by the Warren County Elections Department. McCain took the top spot with 569 votes, followed by Michaels (549), Villela (541) and Harvey (527). McCain, Michaels and Villela will move on to the general election.

Some of the candidates took to social media to thank voters.

In the GOP race for Register & Recorder, Lisa Burkhouse won big over Stephanie Eastman and Lauri Sekerak. Burkhouse received 1,826 votes or 41.66 percent. Sekerak and Eastman were evenly split among the remaining 60 percent. Sekerak claimed 1,290 votes, while Eastman had 1,258.

Full results from Warren County can be viewed here.

Additionally, it appears as though all four state referendum questions will be passed, according to electionreturns.pa.gov. Two of those questions would put limits on the governor’s disaster declaration authority.
