Andy CloseBurton M. “Burt” Johnson, 91, of Warren, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA.
Born on February 27, 1929 in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Emma Erickson Johnson. Burt received a Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and had served in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed with Petrex in Warren. He enjoyed building different projects throughout the years, taking objects apart, and enjoyed figuring out anything new, especially electronics. Burt enjoyed the stock market, car races, yard work, and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida in his earlier years. He was a member of the Warren Eagles Club.
Burt is survived by his 3 children – Ernest Kevin (Paula) Johnson of Russell, PA, Lois (Randy Wilson) Owen of Warren, PA, and Diane (Ray) Kolasa of Strasburg, OH; 4 step-children – Bill Bennett of Warren, PA, Clarissa (Mike) Wiedert of Newton, NC, Doris (Dale) Boyce of Wellsboro, PA, and Tina (Clay) Shaeffer of Vale, NC; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Waehner Johnson, who died on January 31, 1971, his second wife, Millie L. Johnson, who died on January 12, 2017; a son – James Johnson, who died on March 20, 2012; and a brother, Wilfred “Whiz” Johnson.
Friends will be received at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East St., Warren, PA, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, from 11am until 1pm, at which time a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Marcus Briggs, retired minister, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
