BREAKING NEWS: Northwest Savings Bank in Marienville Closing April 13

January 13, 2023

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – In a letter to customers dated Jan. 11, 2023, Northwest Savings Bank said it is permanently closing its Marienville branch at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13.

“Please know that deciding to close an office is never easy,” the letter, signed by Julie Marasco, Northwest PA Region President, said. “We made this decision after long consideration, evaluating changes in customer behavior and expectations, which have accelerated since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to these changing preferences, we’ve invested in a number of digital enhancements over the past few years, including improved online and mobile banking, to provide you with greater access, control, and flexibility.”

Accounts will not be affected, according to the letter, although customers with safe deposit boxes will receive a letter with instructions in the coming weeks.

The letter touted Northwest’s technology as a way to replace not having a physical bank branch.

“Thanks to technology, you’ll still be able to work with a Northwest teller from this location,” the letter said. “For your convenience, we’ll be installing a new interactive teller machine (ITM) where you can make deposits, withdrawal funds, and connect with a Northwest teller to answer your questions and help you with transactions.”

The ITM teller will be available for help with transactions Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to Noon.

The letter suggested that anyone needing in-person “advice and expertise” go to the Kane office located at 56 North Farley Street in Kane or find another branch online at www.northwest.com/locations.
