Alan B. “Herk” Thompson, 85, of Warren, Pa., passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Rouse Home.

Herk was born May 28, 1935, in Warren, he was the son of the late James B. and Jane Langworthy Thompson. After graduating from Warren Area High School, Herk served in the Navy Reserves until the end of the Korean War. After the Reserves, he worked for 15 years in Quality Control at Sylvania.  He then drove truck at Crossett for 27 years, retiring in 1997 as a Million Miles Safe Driver. In his retirement, Herk drove cars for Ed Shults. Herk was a member of the Teamsters Union, Masonic Temple, Northstar Lodge, and The Farah Grotto. Herk will be fondly remembered for being the best husband, father, and grandfather.  He will always be remembered for his great personality and ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren.

Herk is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ann Lindsey Thompson, whom he married on November 27, 1954; four children, Jane Ann Thompson, of Warren, Kay Lynn Godfrey, of Coraopolis, Pa, Dawn Marie Thompson, of Warren, and Julie (Brett) Tingwall, of Saegertown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Charles Kerekanich IV, Stephanie Ann Jackson, Alan Godfrey, Maria Godfrey, Morgan Tingwall, and Quinton Tingwall; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Herk was preceded in death by two brothers; Richard and Donald Thompson; and an infant sister.

Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Warren Cancer Center at 105 Lee Street, Warren, PA 16365.
