WCCS Celebrates 45th Annivesary

June 8, 2022

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – On Saturday, May 28, many current and former students, parents, staff members, and volunteers gathered at Warren County Christian School to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the ministry.

Along with much food, laughter, and reminiscing, Rebecca Downey, pictured above, received an award for “most seasoned” alumna present and was congratulated by former staff members Eugene Coleman and Scott Hendrickson.

Those acknowledged for traveling furthest to attend the event were Leah Laird Brotzman from South Carolina and Jana Martin Strock from Virginia. A school spirit award was presented to Donna Glunt, who brought memorabilia from her husband’s stint as a sports bus driver, as well as customized aprons that had been worn while working in the concession stand in the early days of the school.

David Steves, Class of 1994, was also recognized for his efforts in spearheading the event.

The interdenominational, K-12 school was founded in the basement of Saran Lutheran Church of Youngsville in 1977 by a group of concerned parents. Later, it was housed in a vacant space at the Pellegrino Pepper Factory of Warren, before finding a permanent home in the former Garland Farms Dairy building in Youngsville.

WCCS is currently enrolling for the 2022-23 school year and looking forward to the 50th anniversary celebration in 2027.
