Warren’s Hahn Named Leader of the Year for VMI’s Chapter of National Leadership Honor Society

July 6, 2023

LEXINGTON, VA. – Warren Area High School alum Naomi Hahn has been named the Virginia Military Institute 2022-23 Omicron Delta Kappa Circle Leader of the Year.

Each year, every active ODK circle (chapter) is encouraged to recognize one collegiate member as its outstanding leader for the circle and the campus. Recipients of this award are honored for their contributions to the circle and their campus community. They are selected by their fellow members or the circle’s leadership team.

“Omicron Delta Kappa’s Circle Leader of the Year honorees are amongst the Society’s best collegiate members,” Jennifer Waller, ODK president and chief executive officer, said. “They demonstrate exceptional leadership through outstanding contributions to their circle and campus community. The work and achievements of these members embody the leadership values of ODK.”

ODK extends its heartfelt congratulations to Naomi for their exceptional achievement and applauds their dedication to leadership and service.

Students who serve as circle presidents are leaders amongst leaders. Members of ODK must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class and embrace the Society’s ideals.

They also must demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars of campus life celebrated by ODK: academics and research, athletics, service to campus and community, communications, and creative and performing arts. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the National Leadership Honor Society, was founded in Lexington, Virginia, on December 3, 1914. A group of 15 students and faculty members established the Society to recognize and encourage leadership at the collegiate level. The founders established the ODK Idea – the concept that individuals representing all phases of collegiate life should collaborate with faculty and others to support the campus and community.

ODK’s mission is to honor and develop leaders; encourage collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and alumni; and promote ODK’s leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service on college and university campuses throughout North America. The Society’s national headquarters are located in Lexington, Virginia.
