WARREN, Pa. – Warren County Coroner Melissa Zydonik was formally presented with a badge during Wednesday’s commissioners’ meeting.
Commissioner Ben Kafferlin presented Zydonik with the badge while noting the many different hats she has to wear.
“The coroner is really quasi-judicial, quasi-law enforcement,” Kafferlin said. “This will serve as a visual reminder not only to us that she has the authority, but also as a reminder to who you serve.”
Zydonik was appreciative of the recognition.
“It’s been an honor to serve and I hope to continue to do it for a long time,” Zydonik said. “Sometimes people don’t understand what the role of the coroner is. There’s a lot more to it than people think.”
AGREEMENT APPROVED
The county approved an agreement with the Army Corp of Engineers for patrols of the Kinzua Dam.
The patrols by the Sheriff’s Office have been done for a number of years, and it’s something they are happy to continue doing, Sheriff Brian Zeybel said.
“This is something we’ve been doing as long as I can remember,” Zeybel said. “We’re subcontracted by the dam to help keep the facilities safe and have a law enforcement presence.”
Zeybel noted that the patrols typically run from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
