Warren County Commissioners Award Contract for Repairs to Jail Roof

October 26, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County Commissioners awarded a contract during Wednesday’s meeting to facilitate roof repairs to the recreation yard at the Warren County Jail.

A mandatory walkthrough was held in October, with two companies attending and one of them, Industrial, Welding and Fabrication (IWF) based out of Jamestown submitting a bid in the amount of $131,592 that was approved.

“They met all the requirements of the bid and were within budget of what we anticipated,” said Commissioner Ben Kafferlin.

The roof repairs come in the wake of Michael Burham’s escape from the jail in July.

The funds will come from the county’s American Rescue Plan allocation.

Among the improvements that will be made are for roofing material to be placed over the steel beams, as well as a metal mesh, replacing the current chain-link fence.

“I look forward to getting this done,” said Commissioner Jeff Eggleston. “It will provide another line of defense on the roof.”
