MARIENVILLE, Pa. – A catalytic converter theft in Eldred Township this month is part of a string of similar thefts, Marienville-based Pennsylvania State Police said in a release Saturday.

The Eldred incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Feb. 3, according to police. Police said evidence at the scene indicated that the unknown suspect used a “handheld power tool” to remove the catalytic converter from a 1999 Ford F-250 Supercab belonging to a 44-year-old Sigel man.

“This investigation is directly related to previously reported Catalytic Converter thefts,” PSP-Marienville said in a release.

The estimated replacement cost for the part is $2,000, according to police.

Anyone with information about this, or previous incidents, is asked to call PSP-Marienville at 814-927-0527.
